Zakat Al Fitr

Zakat al Fitr is an obligatory charity on every Muslim at the end of the month of Ramadan. Ibn `Umar said: "The Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, enjoined the payment of one Sa'a of dates or one Sa'a of barley as Zakat al-Fitr on every Muslim, young and old, male and female, free and slave." (Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim) The purpose of Zakat al-Fitr is to purify the one who has fasted from any type of indecent act or speech he might have committed while fasting. It also helps the poor and the needy. Ibn Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, enjoined Zakat al-Fitr on the one who fasts to shield him from any indecent act or speech and for the purpose of providing food for the needy." (Related by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah.)

The Amount of Zakat al-Fitr

As the first hadeeth indicated, the amount of Zakat al-Fitr is one Sa'a. Sa'a is a volume measure corresponding approximately to the volume of 5 lb of good wheat. The material of the Zakat can be either dates, barley, wheat, rice, corn or similar items considered as basic foods. Abu Saeed said: "We used to give for Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of every child, aged person, free man or slave during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, one Sa'a of food, or one Sa'a of dried yogurt, or one Sa'a of barley, or one Sa'a of dates, or one Sa'a of raisins." (Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.)

The Time for Zakat al-Fitr

Zakat al-Fitr has to be paid by the end of Ramadhan. There are two times to pay Zakat al-Fitr. Either one or two days before Eid as 'Umar used to do, or the day of Eid before the Eid prayer. Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, ordered them to pay Zakat al-Fitr before they go out to perform the Eid prayer. If Zakat al-Fitr is paid after the Eid prayer, it will only be considered as regular charity. The Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, said: "If one pays Zakat al-Fitr before the Salat, it is considered an accepted Zakat, if he pays it after the Salat, it is considered an ordinary charity." (Related by Abu Dawud.) Zakat al-Fitr is to be given to the same eight categories or people as in the other types of Zakat. Some scholars say that the poor and the needy are the most deserving ones since the Prophet, sallaallahu `alayhe wa sallam, said that it had "...the purpose of providing food for the needy."

FASTING

God enjoins fasting during the month of Ramadan on all mature and able muslims . It is performed by first expressing the intention to do so and then by abstaining from food, drink and other things which spoils the fast from the break of dawn until sunset.

The expiation for invalidating the fast on account of permanent inability to fast is feeding a poor person by providing him with a meal or what equals it in value.

Purification by means of washing (ghusl) is not a prerequiste for valid fasting

Menses and childbirth render women`s fasting unacceptable. They have to make up for the missed fasting days by fasting then later.

Those who invalidate their fast by sexual intercose between dawn and sunset have to undertake both feeding the poor (kaffara) and fasting later two consecutive months. Should they be unable to fast for two months . then they have instead to feed sixty poor people.

GHUSL (BATH)
the best way of performing in obligatory Ghusl is
(1) The person should have the intention (Niyyat) to cleanse the body from grave impurity
at the time of performing the bath (2) He or She should wash the hands upto the wrists thrice
(3) Then the private parts must be washed thoroughly thrice
(4) Filth must be removed ,if there be any from any parts of the body
(5) One should then perform an ablution
(6) One should lastly wash thrice all the parts of the body, including the hair thorougly

O believers, when you are summoned to friday prayers hasten to the rememberance of Allah and cease your trading. That would be best for you if you but knew it. Then when the prayers are ended, disperse and go in quest of Allah`s bounty .Remember Allah often,so that you may prosper. Sura 62 Al-Jumu a -The Holy Quran

THE FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM
In the Authentical Hadeeth, the Prophet (blessing of Allah be upon him) said: "Islam is built upon five pillars ,ie bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and that mohammad is the apostle of ALlah. Establishing (Regular) Prayers ,Giving (regular) Charity,Fasting (for the holy month of ramadan) and pilgrimage to the sacred house by those who can affort the journey thereto.

GROUP PRAYERS

Group prayers are twenty-Seven degree better than individual prayers. Two persons or more can make a group prayers. A group should have a leader who must be skillful in reciting the Holy Quran ,then the most knowledgeable in the Practices of the Apostle(Peace be upon him),then the oldest person.

The leader stands at the middle front, then looks at both sides calling for straightening of ranks. After prayer is being called for,the leader raises his voice "Tak beera tul Ihram" and the group follow suit. When the leader bows the others follow as well. Till the end prayers. In no circumstance should a follower precede the leader in any movement of the prayer

Conditions Of Prayers

Firstly :Purity.
Which includes purity of body. Purity of garment and purity of place at which prayers are to be performed .Body should be rid of "Hadath"
There are two kinds of "hadath:
1. Minor and Hadath, which entails ablution . It happens whenever something comes out of the body-outlets: urine, excrement, wind or the like.
2. Major hadath,: which entails washing (the whole body), and it could be caused by unconscious sexual relief(eg while in sleeping), ceremonial impurity, minstruation or confinement.

How to do the Washing

Prepare the necessary materials for the bath with the hearth intention to remove Major Hadath. Out of Sunna you start with washing your hands three times, then wash the area of shame after which you do a complete ablution as for prayers, then you pour the amount of three handful of water on your head rubbing with your fingers at the roots of your hair.

After all this you pour water on the whole of your body . Thus you finish the process of washing which is a good means of cleanness and refreshments for the whole body, and which is at the same time a form of worship that makes us nearer to Allah (to Him belong all Dignity and Glory)

THe Ablution (Wudu)

Islam enjoins the ablution before prayer. The ablution is performed as follows: The believer first expresses his sincere intention to perform it:He,then ,washes his hands ,rinses his mouth, takes water into his nostrils, washes his face and arms as high as the elbows, draws his wetted hand over his head ,washes his ears and finally washes his feet.

The ablution is breached (or invalidated) by sleep, loss of consciousness ,breaking wind, relieving one`s self, urination, and the touching of the body of the opposite sex without barrier.

DIVORCE

God permits divorce in order that an end be put to hopelessly troubled marriages. Divorces, however, through God`s mercy, has to be pronounced thrice in order to give the opportunity to each of the spouses to try to save the marriage. God has given the husband the right to divorce because he is more responsible and more considerate of the consiquences. On drawing the marriage contract , however ,or at any time later, the wife can be entitled by the husband to ask for divorce when she wishes. This right of the wife to divorce is called `isma. When the wife obtains it she is said to have `isma in her hands. It is customery now to consider the three divorces pronounced at the same time as one divorce.

DIvorce may take place before and after the marriage is consummated. Should the bridegroom pronounce the divorce once or twices before the marriage is consummated, a new contract and a new dowry are required. The reason why marriage is saved in this case is that the rest of the divorce formulas have not been pronounced . But should the third pronounced of divorced be made before the consumation of marriage then the bride has marry another and have marital relations with him before going back to the bridgegroom. However, the bride who gets divorced before the consumation of marriage is entitled half the dowry.

If after the consummation of marriage the husband pronounces divorce once or twice,he still can save the marriage as long as the wife is in the waiting period (`iddah). But if the waiting period is over,a new marriage is lawful. The reason for enabling the husband,in this case ,to save the marriage is that the third divorce was not pronounced. But if the husband divorces three times after the consummation of the marriage, then he cannot go back to the wife except after she gets married to another , and has marital relations with him.

No expiation is required in the case pronouncing, the divorce and the case of going back to the wife.

If the husband dies after he had divorced once or twice and while the wife is still in the waiting period, she gets entitled to inherit him. She however, then enters waiting period which follows the death of the husband. If the wife dies in the waiting period and after she has been divorced once or twice, the husband is entitled to inherit her.IF the death of either of them takes place after the waiting period, the divorce has to be considered as irrevocable, and the right of inheritance is lost.
